Allergic to Blatant Sexist Crap

I don’t generally use my blog as a podium for outrage, but when this news flash came through – I felt righteously pissed.

Seems that having our daughters wear absolute crap is now in fashion. I won’t even bother throwing out ideas for all the offensive slogans that could be printed on t shirts for boys and young men, because (1) it would be rude, (2) I wouldn’t demean my son by purchasing one for him and (3) no self-respecting CEO of a clothing company would care to see HIS son wearing one.

So why is it okay for these shitty slogans to be pitched at my intelligent, strong, capable, glorious daughters?

This link: Stop Sexist TShirts will take you to a campaign that is being led to let JC Penny and Forever 21  know that they have crossed the line. Please visit and sign the petition.

About Martha Phelps Studio ~ creative on purpose

...a meandering journal of a changing life and the unexpected graces it brings. Earlier posts may provide some history, but this series of writings aren't likely to follow a straight line as I explore topics such as raising kids, making choices, self discovery, the impact of change on a family and how to (hopefully) live with balance and purpose. www.marthaphelps.com
